Tour Itinerary
Departure at 8.00 a.m. to Orvieto, small town in the Umbria region, in the hearth of Italy. During the morning we will visit the Cathedral and the Chapel of S.Brizio, gothic architecture masterpiece of the central Italy. Inside it, cornerstone of the Italian painting of the Renaissance, the Chapel of S. Brizio with Beato Angelico and Bozzoli works; they represent magnificent scenes dedicated to the “Last Judgement” and to the Heaven and Hell.
In Orvieto we will visit the famous Well of S.Patrick too, 62 metres deep, builded in the XVI century to provide the city with water in case of siege.
After the lunch break we will visit the medieval village of Civita, completely isolated and accessible only through a pedestrian bridge because of the gradual erosion of the surrounding hollow and hill; the village risks to disappear, si it is called “the city who dies”.
The return in Rome is estimated at 19.00 h.
